Here is a picture of my friend Mary and me canning peaches. Two nice Polish girls, standing barefoot in the kitchen, wearing tidy aprons.
We are Polkas for Obama.
OK, this is what the sticker really says:
But the "Polish Americans" has the politically correct ring to it that I don't like. Yes, technically, we are both Polish (we were born in Poland), and Americans (we are naturalized American citizens).
We want the short, sweet, two-syllable designation.
So, why not Polaks?
I like Polaks.
But, see, Mary and I are not Polaks. We are females. And, since Polish is a gender-inflected language, we are Polkas.
Polish or not, we hope you too will polka for Obama.

Bwahahaahahahahahah! I will polka for Obama whether or not I am a polak or a polka or whatever! I am kicking off my shoes and putting on an apron and will roast squash since I don't have peaches.

I LOVE this! My husbands family is Polish as is my friend Gosha. I can't wait to forward this to her!
